Foley looks to run for mayor in Lincoln

After an unsuccessful run for governor earlier this year, State Auditor Mike Foley says politics could still remain in his immediate future. Foley says that he is giving serious thought to running for Mayor of Lincoln. Foley finished fourth in the Republican primary for governor in 2014, losing to Pete Ricketts, Jon Bruning, and Beau McCoy.  Foley feels after he garnered a great number of votes in the Lincoln area in that race, he's encouraged by the possibility of running for the city's highest office. Before becoming state auditor, Foley served Lincoln's district 29 in the state legislature from 2000 until 2006, before winning the auditor's job. Democrat Chris Beutler has been Lincoln's mayor since winning the job in 2007 and will likely run for re-election in 2015.
