Group starts campaign against raising minimum wage

Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom has begun a statewide campaign to defeat the probable November 4 general election ballot issue to raise the state minimum wage.  This campaign will include a public speaking tour, guest editorials, and the use of social media to mobilize voters to vote NO on this ballot question. Doug Kagan, president of the group says, "Among other economic calamities, raising the minimum wage will curtail job creation, cause unemployment, especially among teens, and raise prices for consumer goods and services." A proposed increase in Nebraska's minimum wage will need at least 80,386 valid signatures to qualify for the November ballot. The ballot measure would increase Nebraska's minimum wage from $7.25 an hour, the same as the federal minimum wage, to $9 an hour by 2016.
