NWS confirms tordado activity Tuesday

The National Weather Service office in Hastings has now confirmed three tornadoes in South Central Nebraska following Tuesday's severe weather outbreak. The first one was reported along the Loup River near Elyria. The only damage was a flipped pivot and a snapped power pole. Another tornado was confirmed just north of Greeley and didn't cause any damage. The third tornado has been rated an EF-1 with winds up to 110 miles per hour. It ripped parts of the roof off two homes north of Hampton, snapped power poles and flipped pivots.

Widespread damage, though, was caused by hail. Across the area, roofs were hit, cars dented, and for the farming community, crops crushed. Brandon Hunicutt farms near Giltner and is a member of the Nebraska Corn Board and says although some fields will have to be re planted the price of corn shouldn't be effected.
